Fun with a Digital Camera Projector

What do you get if you cross a projector with a camera? Projectography!

It’s no joke, camera/projectors are here! The rumours are true and all our dreams are now a reality. Nikon have launched the world’s first hybrid compact digital camera with a built in LED projector that can project good quality images on to a wall or any surface in the dark.

No more will you have to squint at a friends tiny compact digital camera screen or struggle to make out who is who in the photographs.

For all its digital brilliance, the compact camera is far from the ideal gadget to view photographs, films and slideshows.

Now you don’t have too. Nikon are the first company to combine a compact digital camera with a projector to display a succession of photographic images on any flat surface such as a screen, a wall or ceiling. Images can even be screened on to a plain white T-shirt!

Nikon’s Coolpix S1000pj Digital Camera Projector comes with a remote and a projector stand for the full ‘steady view’ experience.

Now it is possible to watch foot high images of friends and family just about anywhere. If you can’t find a wall or ceiling there is always the floor!! This viewing experience is available as television quality with sound and special effects.

The camera can project 220 successive projector shots or up to one hours’ worth of movie footage.

The projectors image size depends how far away it is positioned from the wall or screen to a maximum of 6ft 6 inches away. Typically five to 40 inches screen size.

The camera is a huge 12.1 Megapixels, automatically corrects strong shadows and incorporates a vibration reduction lens to minimise blurred or overexposed images. It also has a ‘skin softening’ feature to smooth out uneven skin tones and a macro for those super close ups shots.

Other manufacturers will be following suit. There certainly isn’t a better way to shoot and view photographs and have a lot much fun.

Mike Pekelharing, of Nikon, said: 'It's packed with everything you need to take amazing photos as well as show off your pictures.

'Sharing photos or videos has never been so easy, or so much fun.'
